Garden Office Interior Ideas
When considering adding a Garden Office to your property a key question will be what to use for the interior walls. There are many options available such as plasterboard + skim coat, timber cladding, MDF, Plywood but an increasingly popular choice are PVC Wall Panels.
With any external building there is risk of water ingress and all the sheet materials are vulnerable to water – apart from PVC Wall Panels. This is just one of the many advantages that PVC Wall Panels have for the Garden Room or Office.
Easy to Install, Low Maitenance, No Decorating, Durable and Long Lasting, Versatile and Affordable. We will look at all the advantages in our guide below…
PVC Wall Panels for the Garden Office
Easy to Install
With the exception of affordability, the ease of installation is the PVC Wall Panel’s standout feature. When you consider how much your garden office will cost, the internal skin of the building can be an expensive component of the build.
PVC Wall Panel installation is well within the reach of the DIY enthusiast. With relatively basic tools you can install the internal skin of the building thus avoiding the additional cost of a tradesman.
You cut the panel to height and then fit direct to the studwork with staples and adhesive. It is personal preference whether to use a vapour barrier underneath the panels but an important point is that the panels themselves form a waterproof barrier.
Whether you use 250mm wall panels or shower panels, this is a fast and easy installation and is far quicker than any of the alternatives. Remember, no finish coat necessary.
Low Maintenance
A Garden Office is subject to a number of issues such as temperature varation and humidity variation. Being a relatively small room with all four walls being external, interior wall covering is an important design decision.
Obviously the build quality and level of insulation plays a huge part in the thermal performance of any building but a Garden Office can be prone to condensation and mould.
This is a key factor in why PVC Panels are becoming more and more popular for Garden Office Interiors. They add a layer of insulation to help combat condensation, they form a waterproof barrier and are resistant to mould. Compare the performance of a PVC Panel to plywood or plasterboard.
When we say low maintenance, it would be more accurate to say no maintenance. A PVC Panel is a finished product, no preparation or paint necessary and more importantly it will look as good as the day it was installed in years to come.
Affordable
Plasterboard + skim coat will require an external contractor, Plywood or MDF will require dressing, then undercoat, then two top coats. You would need to factor in a good amount of your budget for either option.
PVC Wall Panels are the affordable option. You pay less than the alternatives and gain the many advantages of PVC.
The simplest way to assess the affordability question is to compare the price of plasterboard + plasterer for one wall against what it would cost with PVC panels.
What is the installation cost?
Installing PVC Wall Panels is well within reach of a DIY enthusiast with basic tools. Being able to install them yourself will save a lot of money.
