Adhesive for PVC Wall Panels
What is the best adhesive for PVC Wall Panels?
There are many ways to fix PVC Panels to the wall, some options depend on the existing wall covering – is it porous or non porous?
One of the most common fixing methods is to use a good quality grab adhesive, it is certainly quick and very effective. We will look at recommended adhesives and how to use said adhesive below…
What Adhesive do you recommend for fitting PVC Wall Panels?
There are many good quality adhesives to choose from covering a wide range of prices.
The industry standard is PinkGrip SF, this is the most reliable we have used and offers the most consistent results.
When do you use an Adhesive?
Any porous surface. For wall panels this would be plasterboard, brickwork, timber battens etc
Does the Adhesive have to be Solvent Free?
Yes.
An adhesive that contains solvents will react with the panel, this results in poor adhesion and the panel may deform.

How much adhesive do you use for a panel?
This really does depend on how flat the wall is. If you are fitting direct to existing wall covering and the wall isnt flat you would use the quantity of adhesive to ‘flatten’ the panels.
How much adhesive for a 250mm panel?
For one 250mm panel you will require half a tube of adhesive. This will vary according to how flat the wall is.
How much adhesive for a shower panel?
For one shower panel (1000mm) you will require one and a half tubes of adhesive. Again, this will depend on how flat the receiving wall is.
Please use these quantities as a general guide as they are based on fitting to a flat wall.
How do you apply the adhesive to the panel?
This is generally personal preference and each fitter has their own method. The two application methods I use are as follows.
S Pattern | Flat Wall
This can be seen in the image (right or below). Apply the adhesive using a generous bead in a S pattern covering as much of the panel as possible. I would use this method on a flat wall.
Dot Pattern | Uneven wall
Apply the adhesive using a dot & dab pattern again covering as much of the panel as possible. Use varying amounts to compensate for any low spot in the wall. I would use this method for an uneven wall.
If the wall is very uneven it is better to use timber battens.
How to fit a panel using Adhesive
After applying the adhesive to suit the existing wall, offer up the first panel taking care to locate the panel into any trims such as internal corner, ceiling coving etc
Push the panel firmly into place
Place the panel against the wall checking that it is plumb, when you are happy with its position push firmly against the wall applying even pressure throughout the panel ensuring the adhesive gets a good grab.
Secure with screws, pins or staples.
Secure the panel with screws, pins or staples (depending on existing wall substrate). You do this to lock the panel into place whilst the adhesive cures.
How do you fix PVC Panels to a tiled wall?
Fixing PVC Panels to a tiled wall?
For a tiled wall or non porous surface we recommend using a good quality silicone sealant, allow the sealant to cure and the panel will get a good grab.
So I dont need to remove the tiles?
No, you can fix directly to the tiles saving you a lot of work and mess. We have all removed a tile and it has taken a chunk of wall with it, when fitting panels you dont need to do that.
Do I have to prepare the tiles?
We recommend cleaning the tiles thoroughly to remove any soap or grime residue and make sure there are no high spots. You do need a flat surface to fit the panels.
